Hello there!

Thought it was time I introduced myself to the forum.

I'm Andy, I've been riding for the best part of 30 years now. My first on-road bike was a 197? Yamaha FS1E 50cc moped. I then progressed? to a rather older BSA C15 and learned to change gear with my right foot before switching back to a Honda CD175 on which I passed my test (if you can call it that) back in 1981. I've owned and ridden countless other machines since then, both British, Japanese and German.

I currently ride a Honda Deauville for my daily commute to Altrincham, my weekend 'job' and the odd pleasure trip when I get the chance. It may not be the most exciting or exotic machine in the world, but it's 100% reliable, holds no surprises and returns 55-60 mpg regardless of the mood I'm in.

You'll find me and my Deauville down at RJH most weekends, conducting CBT's :?

Yamaha FS1E :D
My mate had a new yellow one in 1973/74 or thereabout, we used to look up to it with aspiration.
I bet you wish you still had it don't you? Collectable!

Yes, it was a cracking little machine; metallic gold mine was, I seem to remember that my sister had a yellow one a couple of years after me. I spent many a happy hour fiddling about with the carburation and ignition timing in a vain attempt to get more speed out of it. Not forgetting the joy of decoking the exhaust system - designed with removable baffles that could be taken out so that the baked on carbon deposits from the 2-stroke mixture could be cleaned off and the holes in the baffles drilled out again. The phrase global warming hadn't been invented yet!

I never considered the Fissie to be a classic back then though, I always wanted a Honda SS50 - with a proper 4-stroke engine and high-level exhaust.

Hi Ian,

Good to hear from you. I'm not too far away, off Dorset Drive.

Daftest thing about those pedals was that they had to 'work' to get the bike through an MOT.
