Hello from Caz!

Postby Caz on Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:17 pm

Hi Everyone!

I've just joined the site after passing my CBT last saturday, 29th March with RJH - a big hello to Rob and Simon :D
I had a really great day and only attempted to run Simon over just the once!!! Thanks again guys for all your help and support on the day, and for making us girlies feel so at ease.

Well, my lovely other half (Chris) had already treated me to a gorgeous shiny red Yamaha YBR 125, so I couldn't wait to give it a go on the Sunday morning, so we headed out for a little spin... me on the 125 and Chris on his HUGE 1000cc Varadaro!! (talk about little and large!!) I think he made it into 3rd gear once! funnily enough the Varadaro is now up for sale....Chris has realised he needs something a little smaller for following me around for the next couple of months!! We had a nice little ride although lots more practice needed to get my confidence up, it all gets a bit scary out there in the big wide world, especially when I haven't got a nice calming voice talking to me in my helmet, telling me not to get flustered!

Popped out all on my own on Tuesday afternoon :D and found a nice little circuit taking in some country lanes as well as some faster 60mph roads, left and right hand junctions and roundabouts all around Knutsford, Ollerton and Chelford which is my new practice route, hopefully weather permitting, I'm looking to extend that tomorrow morning!!

Well thats it for now, just wanted to say hello to everyone and a big thanks again to Rob and Simon for making my excitement possible!

Cheers,

Caz

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :D

Well this is the last time I plan a nice little ride out on a Sunday morning without checking the weather first!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it when i opened the curtains this morning and there was snow everywhere!!!! :o I don't think my riding skills are up to this challenge quite yet!!!!!

Oh well back to domestic duties till it melts!

CBT's have gone ahead, Nick and Simon of course, I was up early this morning for a site inspection, to give the all clear, and back home for a couple of hours.....

A bit of snow does no harm

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on passing your CBT :D

Nice to see the girls are keeping Simon (aka Parker...!) on his toes - how fast can you run now Simon??

As for the weather, it's easy to be fooled. If you look at BBC online and then BBC teletext they often say different things - sometimes quite a significant difference. Here's a site someone recommended to me - it's been good so far:

http://metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/today.asp?zipcode=SK3

Change the postcode to your area, click on TODAY (blue header bar) and you get 3-days forecasts that show wind speeds and gust speeds (don't forget to save it to favourites after you've done that). If you click on 7-Days (left hand side) you get weather and wind speeds (no gust information unfortunately). Hope that helps with the planning.

You must be lucky in Congleton today Rob, here there's still snow on the bike covers and slippy pavements outside...

Thanks for the advice re metcheck Lady P, I normally use that quite a lot, but just forgot to check!!! too busy planning a nice route and dreaming of nice quiet twisty open roads!!! :D

Simon and Nick must have been freezing this morning Rob.....Hope you packed them a hot flask of coffee for up at the School

I didn't manage to get out at all today :( By the time the roads had cleared and i had made sunday lunch....It was snowing heavily again, and despite my excitement to get out there on my little red bike.....It suddenly didn't look quite as inviting as I had hoped!!!!
