VFR or Blackbird?

Postby Iain on Sun Sep 30, 2007 2:58 pm

Hi All,
I've recently passed my test and got my first bike,a VFR vtec v4.My original idea was I'd have the VFR for about my first year then move on to something bigger like a Blackbird or another big sports tourer with a view to doing some touring within the UK and maybe the continent eventually. The VFR is a great bike!I'm very pleased with it and there's more than enough power for all I'll ever do on UK roads with it.So really is there anything to be gained by stepping up to the bigger bike,be it a Blackbird or otherwise?Or will I just end up burning more fuel?
Txs!
Iain.

Hi Iain, My other half has a Blackbird, and started off with a VFR. He says, personally when he swapped the VFR for the Blackbird the power difference scared the crap out of him  . He says if youve recently passed your test he would recommend sticking with the VFR for a while as he found it more than adequate for touring, we even went to France on it.
The Blackbird might be classed as a sports tourer but can leave many a fireblade for dust if in the right hands
Try taking one out on a test drive if you can, not sure on how long you have to have passed your test before you can book one though.
Petrol wise, it doesnt do alot less to the gallon than the VFR as long as its ridden sensibly, the other half can get about 200 miles off a full tank, which costs about 16 quid.
He said if you want to give him a bell for a chat about it pm me and i'll give you the number :)
