YAMAHA XJR1300

Postby John (JT) on Fri Jun 01, 2007 5:10 pm

I love this bike. Retro. Big engine (well, if you are going to have one, then it might as well be a big one  ) It has character......

She moves around underneath you letting you know that perhaps you should'nt be pushing her quite so much - and I like this feedback :!:

About 108 bhp and more torque than Rob :P :P :P :P

Got a good club following as well. If anyone interested, pm me and I'll get back to you. So, here is JR

Nice one Retro - damn fine taste  mind you, I am rather biased :P

Decent colour too.

Not sure why it took me so long to get away from sports bikes...but I'm glad I did. You won't look back now.

Too mine through France, Belgium, Germany and Holland last summer and it more than enough bike for me these days.

They just run beautifully.

The club http://www.yamahaxjrowners.com well worth a visit. Do log on and register yourself. Loads of advice, ride-outs, club outings, shows, European trips etc to keep you ammused. You'll find me on there as Scroatie (it's a long story!)

Couple of pointers:-

1. Ignore the torque recommended in the Haynes manual for the sump bolt. It is far too high!!!!!

2. Never leave it on PRIME

3. Finish is OK as long as you give it a little tlc

4. It'll run out of juice at 160miles of 'spirited' riding

5. Its damn heavy if you have to push it 3 miles to a fuel station

When the weather warms up a bit and the salt has gone away, JR will be back on the road. We should have a ride out together. The Midlands section of the club meet once a month at the Raven, Whitchurch if you fancy a 5,000 calorie breakfast one Spring Sunday morning.

Enjoy your new bike....... I am very fond of JR - best bike I've had :D
