Test Friday!

Postby spalmer on Wed May 07, 2008 8:44 pm

Hi all im new here.
I have always enjoyed biking, at the age of 17 it was the choice of car or bike. My heart said bike test but my head said car. I did the car and passed ok. Im now 21 and I decided to take my DAS. I took my CBT last June and since have been ridining a CBR125 untill now.
I booked my DAS with the same company who did my CBT. On completion of CBT they where very pleased with my riding so on booking of DAS they recommended just 2 days training and test on 3rd day morning.
I had the first day today and was paired with a guy who has had more days then me, went a dream except the U turn. I just cant make it across in one go. However hard I try i just fall about 85% of the way round. This is gonna kill my test.
I just got back off my CBR to try on my own and I got about 10 right out of 20 using the idea of focusing ahead.
Any other tips? Do you think the training company should have made me do the full course (4 days)?
Im not a very big built person and if the 500 goes that it because im so small. I think this is the main reason i struggle on the U Turn, im so paranoid it will fall on me.

U-Turns :? :?
Don't let your training company let you go for your test until you have mastered your U-Turn! Insist on practice practice and more practise until that clutch gets ultra hot :D :D :D

From what you are saying, it sounds like at 85% you are closing your throttle? This will cause you to put your foot down!

Try this, at 80% lightly increase your throttle, whilst looking where you want to go, not in front of you, and this should solve your problem, however, as previously said, don't let your instuctor let you down   Keep practising!

Nationally the U-Turn causes more failures on the bike test, so don't be a statistic :D

That is how racing bikes get the knees down without fear of coming off..... Open the throttle :D

Who is your training school?

Hi all,
I had a mock test before my real test and guess what, I dropped the bike. they really shook me up. The test: Well to my surprise it all went well and I passed with 3 minors! The examiner took me to the widest road in the city! There was no way I could fail the U Turn, there are tighter corners! I am so pleased :) now off to look at a honda 600 hornet :)

Thank you all again,

Simon
