Hello from a newbie...

Postby Lady P on Fri Jan 18, 2008 7:46 pm

Hi

I've just joined the site after passing my CBT on 4th Jan with RJH - a big hello to Rob, Simon "Parker" (hence the username / in your honour!!) and Nick the Knight!

Just got back from collecting my new bike, a ride of about 5 miles in Friday rush hour, in the dark, and with new tyres on damp/wet roads - fantastic! One hairy moment on the Pyramid roundabout and a couple of stalls but back safely - Mike was following me in the car and said he was impressed (he's a biker too, full licence). Remembered all the things you guys taught me and put them to good use - that lifesaver really did the job!!! Am hoping for decent weather at the weekend so I can take the bike out for a proper ride...........

Well that's it for now - just wanted to share my excitement with people who understand (mother's quote "...dangerous things, motorbikes...") and to thank the guys at RJH once again for all their patience and support.

Cheers

Mandy

Hi guys

Thanks for the warm welcome. In answer to your question (Yorkie 1200) I went with a Honda CG125. Looked at a Yamaha but was a little disappointed with the build quality (we used to have a XJS100 many moons ago which was fab) and was concerned by the small indicators. Also being somewhat vertically challenged (!) the seat on the Honda offers more scope to have it 'scooped' if need be, although I've had the dealer lower the suspension to begin with (both great recommendations from Rob/RJH) which seems to have helped. Liked your caveat by the way, although 'within reason' can be a pretty broad or narrow spectrum depending upon how you look at it ! [/img]

Morning Rob

You'll just have to keep guessing re: the DSA  , but before I am sent to biking Coventry I would like to confirm I am NOT a tax / VAT inspector!!! I've not seen any articles on your forum or details in the Highway Code regarding towing partners - is this legal / humane??(!) . After last night Mike is probably more concerned about me and DAS than DSA, especially as he now knows bike seats can be scooped to accomodate us smaller people! Speaking of DSA, when's Simon doing his exam?? Would love to hear how he gets on (is he a registered user on this site?) and also Angela and John too.

Have a good weekend.

Towing Partners? Explain more........
Simon still training, going in the right direction, not registered yet, I keep trying but he hasn't yet, although Nick is registered!

John and Angela are still trying, not quite there yet!!

Well, you suggested a visit to the unit with "hubby in tow", thought perhaps you meant literally  (careful - it's probably a DSA trick question............ )!!! Tell Simon to get it done otherwise I'll have to come back as a 'plant' in his class (that should get him moving!). Hope John and Angela get there soon. Say hi to Nick for me too.
