Kawasaki 1400 GTR 2008

Postby rjh_786Bn on Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:41 pm

I Think I have found a new toy that I want

Until now sports tourers have been about compromise. Kawasaki doesn't compromise. They have taken the engine from the all-conquering ZZR1400, the world's most powerful hyper-sportsbike, and retuned it to make the 1400GTR mega-sports tourer deliver the performance hardcore riders demand. Plus Kawasaki's unique monocoque frame gives the comfort and luggage carrying capacity you need to easily dispatch colossal distances.

The 1400GTR, the all new Transcontinental Tourer from Kawasaki contains many new Supersport and Touring features. These 4 top features of the new 1400GTR are:

KIPASS (Kawasaki's Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System), the first smart key iginition system in its class.
A 1,353cc engine with Variable Valve Timing, for a remarkable performance.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, to monitor the air pressure via sensors in both front and rear wheels and displaying this information on the instrument panel.
Electric Adjustable Windscreen
Shaft Drive
A real benefit for the long-distance traveller - virtually maintenance-free shaft drive.

Electric Screen
Deflect wind and weather with the electrically adjustable screen, reducing fatigue so you can ride further and longer.

Security in mind
KIPASS* (Kawasaki’s Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System) increases your bike’s security wherever you travel.

1400GTR Motor
Precision engineering is the secret of the 1400GTR’s extraordinary torque delivery across the rev range. Variable valve timing optimises torque for blistering acceleration, yet still delivers smooth power for high-speed cruising.

12v Socket
An all purpose DC socket with a capacity of 70W makes it easy to use electrical accessories.

ABS Braking
Linked petal brake discs all round, and radially-mounted front calipers allied with ABS, ensure composed braking under all conditions.

Panniers
The large-volume panniers are integrally designed and easy detachable.

Tyre pressure sensor
No need for regular tyre pressure checks. Sensors deliver that information straight to the instrument console.

Technical specifications
Displacement: 1,352cc
Max Power: 114 kW {155 PS} / 8,800 rpm
Dry weight: 279 kg
Wheelbase: 1,520 mm
Seat height: 815 mm

The Kawasaki website lists its recommended retail price as £10,995 on the road.

Must say Rob I have had my eye on this model too, seems to have all the bits in the right places, and is a good looker.
As regards the price I am too only able to LOOK at the moment
