Hello from Helen

Postby Helen_86 on Wed Jun 13, 2007 10:13 pm

Hello, my name is Helen and I'm getting closer to the not-so-big 21st birthday :D One week away... ace

I ride a 125cc Kawasaki Eliminator and have done since March '05. I did my CBT and training with Rob and others at RJH, then had two hilarious mishaps on tests in Macclesfield (I get chronic performance nerves!) I eventually passed my test last August (by which time I was living in Cornwall) with the help of Joe from J.C. Motorcycle Training, Launceston. It's amazing what you can do when slightly hungover! (But totally legal to ride, of course...) :P

Having ridden my 125 from Congleton to Land's End and back, I now fancy getting something a tad bigger so am considering getting my backside in gear to sell my prized toy... any tips on the best way to go about doing so? I never really know how to do the money/bike exchange safely and without getting fleeced by bouncing cheques etc (whilst not making the buyer paranoid I won't hand over the bike or whatever. Is that just me?) :) Any tips gladly received.

Helen

This is my little Eliminator taking on Exmoor. Together we conquered the cattle grids, deteriorating road surfaces AND we avoided getting jumped by any of those rough Exmoor ponies! :D

hi helen
wow thats a really good picture :D

if some one offers you a cheque for the bike you just tell them
they will ave to wait for the cheque to clear then they can come
and collect bike

if they are ok they will wait

if they say sorry cant wait that long just
say well go and get cash then

even if they offer half cash and half cheque they must still wait
for cheque to clear

cheers
ian

Hi Helen,

Well done on passing your test.

Great photo.

Any ideas what bike you'll be going for next ?

Regards.

Hi Helen

good buyers will understand about the cheque having to clear - just stick to your guns about it

what you thinking of getting next?
How many times can one person drop a bike practicing those dread u-turns?

Cheers for the advice

Cheers for the advice, it's much appreciated :D

Next bike... oooh... *eyes glaze over* Ideally I'd love a 600cc Honda Shadow, but I have also had the Yamaha Virago 535 recommended to me and have seen decent Viragos advertised at about the same price I'd sell my bike for, so that seems like a good option (unless there's anything really undesirable about Viragos?)

Honda Shadow 600:

Aesthetically speaking, I prefer this one, esp the exhausts. The slightly "kinked" exhaust of the Virago may grow on me though, you never know

Give me the Honda over the Yamaha anyday
That's only my opinion though, Honda don't let me down!
The only experience with Yamaha for me is Scooters, they were good though :D

Yeah, the Honda would be my first choice if I could find one for the right price! :D Unfortunately, they seem to be few and far between and a bit over my budget...

Cheers Paul :)

Cheers for that Ian. I've just been browsing eBay too... and I'm getting a little tempted by a couple of Viragos :)
