Ducati 748 - to buy or not to buy

Postby keepy on Sun Aug 03, 2008 11:31 am

I’ve been looking for a second bike for a while (either sport or Cruiser) and have come across a Ducati 748 (always liked the looks of the 748/916/996/998) for £2750…. In good condition, I wouldn’t say excellent, and it’s not a wreck, it just looks 8 years old. Now, the question is:

For a weekend bike is it worth a dabble considering its done 20+k (can’t remember the exact number). The bike has a full service history, belts etc done recently.

Is a well maintained high mileage bike a better bet than a low mileage bike that hasn’t been looked after well, or has spent to much time down at the mechanics to rack up enough miles!!?

Thoughts?

Ps I know that I can get cheaper/faster/newer lower mileage bikes if I went for a Jap rice burner! But it’s a Ducati I’m after, and I already have Honda Hornet as my daily rider.
