Hello everyone,

My husband and I have just completed our CBT on the scooters with Rob and Andy at RJH yesterday. Would like to comment on my CBT experience but not sure if I should post it here or in the post test comments section.

Anyway, I'll introduce myself first. I'm a thirty-something professional housewife turning professional student soon (lol). I just keep the house clean to a professional standard, and look after my husband and cat. As I can't drive, I'm usually house bound while my husband is away at work. Doing the CBT and getting a scooter would mean some independence to me and maybe add some quality of life to my current routine.

Hi Mrs Paws

Welcome to the board and congratulations to you and your husband for doing your CBTs! Have you already got a scooter or are you looking for one? And do you have a particular style in mind? :)

Hope to see you out on the roads soon! :D

Thanks for the welcome.

Ha ha, Mrs Paws, I like that. My username is my cat's nickname.

I have a list of scooters I want to see, all 100cc models. Unfortunately, it involves a lot of shopping around because a couple of dealers don't stock the models I want to see. The seat height would be my first concern because I'm just under 5ft. Almost impossible to find something that allows me to have both feet comfortably on the ground whilst sitting. Maybe need to consider whether the seats can be skimmed to get the extra inch closer to the ground.

Just remembered something nice from my CBT. One of the rookie's bike died so was left behind. The instructor went back to look for him and I was left to wait alone at the side of Buxton Road. A biker was coming my way, saw me and slowed down because I must have looked very lost to him with my pink helmet, bewildered expression and trainee vest. He put his thumb up to me, I guess to ask if I was okay, so I put my thumb up to indicate that I was. It was a nice feeling, like being welcomed to their biker's world for the first time even though I'm on a scooter.

hi
i still rememer that first nod of the head from another biker
it was a good feeling :D back then most bikers nodded to one
another now most of them nod only if your riding their style of bike

R.E having a seat skimmed down its easy to do and there is a
couple of places in biddulph that could do it for you :)
cheers

I remember the first time I was nodded by a guy on a scooter. I was really surprised! It was a very nice Mod affair :D

I still grin like a Cheshire cat when I get the first nod of each ride I go on :D

Hi Mel,

I'm starting a post grad course in Early years with MMU. It's expensive being a student nowadays  . Fortunately, my course is government funded and I get a bursary, which would go towards financing my scooter :D .

I initially applied for the Didsbury campus in Manchester which travelling would cost me £12 per day by public transportation. Now in process of transferring to the Crewe campus and I would be able to scooter it out and save money.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your comments left in the other thread for me.

The training went very well, I thoroughly enjoyed it even in the torrential rain conditions last Sunday.

If you can I would recommend you both go for it before the changes next year, and its a great feeling hearing those words  "You have passed"

Keep in touch

Regards to you both
Mark
