just a quick question - i am at the stage of cleaning and painting my bike and am considering putting a coat of paint on the enigne with VHT paint. but i read on the internet sumwhere that this can cause the engine to overheat (my engine been air cooled), is this likely?

Cheers!

I have used ordinary black spray paint on engines
without any problems
TBH i havent noticed any difference between
VHT paint and ordinary paint in the past
apart from the price :D
Is this where i write something witty and
interesting

Hi, not posted anything on the forum for a while so just to give you an update - i have managed to strip the bike, clean and paint
most of the parts and here is how its looking now:

Has taken ages and still needs a few things doing to it, but should be on the road in a few months :o

I do have a problem with the carbs keep overflowing though, i have tried adjusting the float level but doesnt seem to be doing much,
I think i will need to strip them completely and make sure all the parts are clean.

Hi Kaine
In my opinion your carbs will need a thorough cleaning as they have stood for a long time. The flooding is more than likely down to dirty needle valves not sitting properly,or could be you've not set float height right.

if it were me i would strip the carbs completly, removing needle valve, main jet,air screw and anything else thats removable
I would then boil the carb bodys and bowls in a pan of boiling water with a dishwasher tablet in it,leave it simmering for half an hour, then repeat this with clean water(no detergent).rinse and repeat agian.
This is how i clean my carbs(works for me) :)
have posted a link showing the basics of a carb:http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/vmmanual.pdf
