hey, i've just fitted a new pair of Michelin Pilot road 2 to my speed triple. So far they are fantastic. they are scrubbing up quickly despite them only having been riden on the wet.
I know new tyres in the wet isn't a great idea but i had no choice, although having said that they were better than what came off, even fresh from the mold. Giving more than enough grip to inspire confidence, they felt like they would hold on even if pushed hard over the edge. It took a great deal of ristraint not to push.
Cost wise they are not the cheapest out there and around here (biddulph moor) I found a good few places to get them, all around the same price, but the majority wouldn't do a ride in fitting. I dont know how many of you have front lifts and paddock stands but I dont. so bringing in the rims alone wasn't an option. Aftera few questions I found the main reasons the bulk of tyre places don't do ride in fittings is due to insurance, covering bikes getting knocked over or off supports by clumsy staff.
Of the places I rang DK were the dearest but they would have been the quickest. 24 hours to order and recieve the tyres and approx 45 minutes to fit. my advice is shop about and bear in mind that most dealers will charge for fiiting tyres to rims if you don't buy from them
Hopefully with a dry few days this month i can get out and scrub them up fully and let you know how they feel.... any questions just give me a shout.
