Hi People!

Just an introduction, and plea for some advice.

My Name's Mike.

I once had a Peugeot Speedfight 100 about 8-9 years ago, then sold it and started driving cars.
Now I am ready to get back on 2 wheels, and as soon as I come into some money I'll be booking my DAS. I have some money coming to me soon so just waiting on that...

If anyone can recommend a good training school in/near Luton or Bedfordshire please let me know :?:

My only problem is that I am a firefighter and work shifts 4 on, 4 off, but my first day off doesn't start til 9am, leaving me just under 4 days off. I could really do with doing CBT one week then Direct Access the next as I can't be sure I'll be able to book time off before September and I wanna be riding in the summer.

Also, I need some advice on a good starter bike once I've passed my DAS. I will be selling my car to buy the bike so I need something that good year-round.
I will have a maximum of about £1700 to spend, and would love a sports bike of some sort. I really like the Honda CBR 600, but am open to other suggestions... :?:

Oh, one more thing; my partner will be doing her DAS at some point this year too and she's a good 5-6 inches shorter than me, will this be a problem if we're sharing a bike? And I'll need a bike good for carrying pillions too.

Sorry for all these questions but any advice will be greatly apprecieted.

I look forward to speaking to you all.

Bye for now...
Mike Burrett

Hello Mike and welcome to the forum. i personally don't know of any training schools in your area :( however would recommend you visit http://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/c_beds.htm and there are a few centres that are in your area listed.
Naturally your choice will need to be a school that would fit in with your committments, and a school that could cater for your wifes height- how tall is she?
RJH advertise on this site, and I know Roger (owner) would not have any cowboys listed on there.
Failing this, we could offer a residential course here in Cheshire, with a carefull bit of planning, its has been done before :D

Do you mind me asking why you think sports bikes? 1st bikes are great in Honda CB500, Hornets, and would fit the price you are willing to pay. Couple this and pillions are also comfortable.

I am sure there will be more replies, and look forward to seeing you on the forum.
