Hi Sandra,

Well done on getting your CBT.

I had a few one to one lessons after my CBT mainly because I had never riden a motorbike before and didn't really feel that confident. I would say it is really important to get the right foundation before venturing out on your own. At least then you're practising the right things.

After a few lessons, I realised that I needed much more time on the bike than lessons alone were giving me so I bought a 125. I put 1300 miles on that before sitting my test, partly because I had to wait 11 weeks for the test but also because I needed the time to build confidence and consistency. An intensive course would not have been right for me.

It's also important to ensure that when you're out on your own that you do everything properly and don't get sloppy. If in doubt about something just ask - there's plenty of experience on this forum for sure.

Finally, do plenty of practice of slow speed manoeuvres - slow riding and U turns - will help you in slow traffic, at junctions etc..

All the best
Stu
