i had issues with the u turn as well. out with rob not a problem, on the test there was problems... but for me it's all over a like Mr t i have to do a three point turn as the lock on my bars is appauling and i'd need three lanes at least to get round. But on the test i found the key for me. It might not sound good buyt rev the tits off it, that way you are less likely to want to put your foot down as it's hard on the brake while you feather the clutch. It worked for me. well that and turning my brain off, as i had a mental block. I know you feel like the sods are out to rob you have break your account but i have the faith. you can do it.

actually I didn't manage to get out last weekend because it was impossible to get out of our village due to flooding - couldn't actually go anywhere - not eve n to the end of the road because that had turned into a very nice duck pond - there was enough water to totally destory a recently resurfaced road - all good fun hey :D

but I have been practicing lots - I can do them - just seem to mess up on the test - nerves seem to get the better of me - actually something about the examiner in Newcastle put me on edge so that got me off to a bad start last time - you know how some people just fail to make you feel comfortable? Not his fault, just the way he was - but I'm a bit sensitive to that kind of thing when I'm nervous - anyway.....

I will probably be a lot better this time because I've already met this examiner (I'm back in Macc for test number 3 on Monday) - I'll get it done - just need the right situation with my nerves in check and I'll be sorted

contemplating taking the bike down to Donnington this week and seeing if I can't get some personal tuition from Rossi - surely he'd take pity on a distressed damsel :D Well a girl can dream can't she :D

the examiner in ewcastle can be a bit of a tool. the first time i met me him he was a right crotchity £*&*!"....(fill in your own blank). I didn't pass. and the next few guys i spoke to said that they didn't pass either. I know thats not evidence, but get this, any who has worn full leathers, like i do, knows there isn't much pocket space, and the mardy git wouldn't let meleave my documents in the little room while we were out, despite that i stood there and watched him lock it. then he got twitchy when i said that i would just give them to rob

HOW WET?

So I left from Chesterfield in loads of time in the pouring rain, practiced a few u turns on the way and all was fine. By the time I got to Macc my gloves were soaking - there were puddles in the pockets of my supposedly (and up to now has been very effective) waterproof jacket. My hands were freezing. Was worried about the controlled stop with all the rain but that went ok.

Long story short - another great ride but no license - fingers just wouldn't respond to my command to open my clutch up - revs were fine, turned the bars fine - was all good but for freezing fingers not working properly. Gutted to say the least. But not yet giving up.

have just had the most scary ride of my life back home - winds high enough to rip the front L plate from my bike - took me loads longer coz we've got floods everywhere - got redirected up to Sheffield to come back into Chesterfield from the north only to find the road into my village totally blocked - police helped me get the bike onto the pavement and walk it through but even then my feet were submerged in water.

Anyway, I don't feel so bad about this one and the examiner did comment that I was loads more confident this time - kept my nerves nicely under control just the bloody British weather being against me.

Not to be put off I shall go off on my hols this evening, get the bike through it's service then see if I have the funds available to get another go at it. Think I'll stick with doing it in Macc - the examiner is much nicer there.

If anyone is about in Newcastle on the 14th July I shall be popping my little baby into DK for it's 4000 mile service

Oh and for any novices reading this - despite the failed test attempts, I'm still having the time of my life on the bike. Best thing I've ever done.

Oh AND before I forget, at Donnington at the weekend had a little sit on a cbr600 a gsxr600 and the cbr1000 - all of which I can comfortably touch the floor on (which is quite an achievement for a shortie like me). No I'm not going for the 1000 just yet but think I fell in love with the gsxr :D Any opinions on either bike greatly received - and as soon I get my license I shall test ride them both :D

Must admit im a fan of the GSXR myself, a friend has one and when ive had ago it was very comfortable to ride - but ive only sat on a few, the Triumph daytona has to be one of the lest comfortable ive found so far.

ah the joys of the internet - and the fact that I'm a natural born geek - I'm still here :D

despite all the best efforts of the British weather I managed to get to the airport and my plane did take off - not one to gloat but it's glorious sunshine over here :D
