Aprilia RS 125

Postby Jimbo on Sat Jul 14, 2007 11:20 pm

Hey guys, thought id best post something about the aprilia rs125 as the aprilia
is looking a little empty and i have tons of info about this nippy little 2 stroke machine at hand so here goes.

A Great starter bike which takes a few hours to get used to but is really good to learn on, brakes are fantastic (disc) later models even have upside down forks!

only problem ive found with this machine is its expensive to run for a 125, needs constant checks on the 2 stroke oil ( it works differently to 4 stroke models in that the fuel mixes with oil as you ride, so oil is burnt requiring constant topping up ) only the best 2 stroke you can afford will do as the engine itself is fragile and will seize if cheap stuff is used.

another problem ive come across recently with this bike is its not Bike practical test friendly ! trust me , dont take one to any test centre without proof its restricted to 14.6 bhp, they wont take you out on it !!
also , bear in mind if u can take it on a test its EXTREMELY difficult to do a U turn on!!

insurance is expensive on these bikes too but my insurance company offered to knock 93 quid off my insurance when i pass my test!

currently im paying 419 quid full comprehensive on my bike not garaged and im 30 so i bet a 17 year old would have quite a bill to pay on one of these!!

More to follow....
