Hello there.....

Postby Varadero on Wed Jan 02, 2008 9:55 pm

Hi Guys,

Found this site by accident last week so I though i'd drop in for some pre test advice. BUT..... I never got time before my test and YEP it did not pass!!

I have been riding for about 8 months following my CBT last year. Bought a Honda Valadero to learn on and to commute to work. Could not afford to do my DAS so I opted to do the standard bike test.
Been putting loads of practice in with fellow bikers, one one has just retired as an instructor.

Todays test when very well up until the last round a bout. I exited the round a bout and only left my indicator on for 1 flash! During the end of test summery my examiner explained that I was not correctly showing other drivers my intentions. So I failed my test with no minor faults and 1 serious fault. A bit gutted but re booked another test for 3 weeks time.

Is my fault a regular test slip up???I feel it was a bit harsh considering I had no minor faults.

When I learned to drive I'm sure I was taught that exit signals were courtesy signals. Things may have changed or maybe differant on bikes.

Anyway, Hello to all.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy, sorry you did'nt get through your test, better luck next time!!

Look at it as being a good ride overall, 1 fault is cruel!

Mini roundabouts are slightly different:
However a normal roundabout we always teach the following:
Ensure you have completed your manouvre and are upright and in your command position, then check your mirrors and cancel your indicators!

Where did you stumble across us, and where did you take your test?

Hello Andy welcome to the forum
Try not to dwell on your failure, we all fail at certain things in life but the best thing is to get up, dust yourself off, and get stuck in and beat the failure!!!

All the best of luck for next time

Cheers for your replys guys.

Was a bit gutted about the test but i have got another booked for a couple of weeks time. Hope the weather improves by then!!!

WHEN I pass i'm in three minds what to do:-
1Take the L plates off and keep riding until my two years is up
2 Get something like a CBF250 for a couple of years
3 Get a BMW GS650 restricted to 33BHP or something like that

I prefer to do the 3rd choice but am not sure what a restricted bike rides like. Any help on that???

I found this site by searching Google for tips on passing my test and common test failures. It came up in the results so I gave it a go. Cheers Guys

gs 650 are a good bike to own it probley puts out about
50hp so if you have it restricted to 33 you probley won.t
notice much of a difference
A resticted bike rides pretty much the same as a unrestricted one
around town and such
you start to notice a difference when you want to accelerate hard
up through the gears
once you get to a certain rev,s the bike feels like it does.nt
want to go any faster this is becuse the restricter kit not
allowing more fuel in the engine
this is only realey noticable on the faster 4 cylinder bikes
my wifes 400 bandit is fitted with a restricter kit
and when i ride it quite happly accelerates up to 75-80 no probs
