triumph daytona 675

hi everyone,

i was just wondering what everyone thought of this bike? ive read reviews, and the majority are nothing short of outstanding. my current bike is a cbr600f, which i adore, and have only had 6 months, but i am currently hammering sales at work and pushing the overtime to get some pounds in the bank, and i am seriously contemplating a decent spend on a new or 12 month old bike. i have also looked at the honda rr, the repsol version 600cc. but theres just something about the triumph that attracts me, especially the limited edition phantom they are bringing out for 2008.

has anyone got any experience with triumphs, or any help/tips/advice for me?

cheers
motorbiketastic!

Hi

Can´t tell you anything about the Daytona, but we recently bought our ´dream bike´ a Triumph Thruxton. As with all write ups there was very little said about pillion etc  and the one we did see said it was not really for ´two up´. Also there was some discussion about wrist ache due to the cafe racer position. I guess it all comes down to the rider´s own preferences and agility. We think our bike is absolutely ace, great build quality, comfortable, and with no apparent deterioration in ´eagerness´ to shift even with the two of us on board. Sadly I´m only provisional at the minute but one day I will get to ride it!!!

Hope your hunt for a new bike goes well :) .

675b daytona

hey up.
i have a speed triple and it is great. shed loads of go, great threw the twisties. only down is the turning circle. even rob had issues getting it round in the schools playground where he does cbt tests.
having said that ....
i took the 675 for a test ride a month or so ago.
damn. having riden my triumph, various hondas, r6's and recently a diversion 600 (sorry to anyone who has one, but this one was balls) the 675 beats it all. well manner through town as soft as a pussy cat filtering through traffic. give it some bean though and you had better have pushed your feet down into pegs, if you didnt you would be getting the sky, floor, sky floor bang show. the power comes from nowhere and you could be mistaken for thinking that you were on a bigger bike. the brakes are stunning, the first time i stopped at a red light i nearly nosed it in to the floor as they are razor sharp, little tap and oh that the front wheel i can see coming at my face.
as for the rummures of high seat, dont worry about it. i have the shortest legs in the world and can only reach the floor on most bikes with one foot (read, sliding off the seat) and on the daytona i can reach the ground with both. yes the seat is higher than most but the bike is so thin it just doesnt matter. once your off and moving the riding position is great. with the narrow but well designed seat you can get upright for tooling about town but when you get a shift on slide your arse back and i enjoy, i have never riden a finer bikethrough twisties, just what your knees. i dont have sliders on my leathers and firt time out i scuffed them on a verge as i didnt think i was that far over.
the only reason i havnt got a 675 and still have the triple is that cost for me to insure it was through the roof. i could afford the bike but not the insurance. for me the triple with no no-claims and 900cc motor, fully comp, £300. the 675, one years no-claims, 675cc, fully comp, £1400.
if i can find cheaper, much cheaper, insurance i straight down bs for one. best thing you can do is nip down bs and grab a test ride.
