Another newbie to biking.

Hi all,

I have passed my theory (2days ago! got 49/50 on theory :-0)and I have my CBT in a week and a half. I am going to buy a compatible learner bike after CBT to use to commute to work and back and then sit my a2 test a little later (I am over 21). I would be happy to have a <33kw bike for 2 years.

I would like a full size bike as I am 6'2" and 16stone. Comfort is important as well as a bike which would be fair to good to do the practical test on.
Ideally a bike which I could derestrict after the test up to the limit?

Budget is quite flexible.

Could you please suggest a suitable bike? The honda varadero looks a good size...or the aprilia?

Also, do they allow learners to test ride (At dealers?). And finally - what kind of discount might i expect off a new bike - is it the same as buying a car in this regard?

Phew, a lot of questions I know.. Thanks in advance. Looks like a really informative forum so thanks for that.

Welcome, where are you from, and who are you doing your CBT with?

Honda would be good, and they are reliable and hold there value well! You would not be dissapointed :D

I know it well,
My parents owned a B&B back in the late 80's early 90's there!
I grew up around the cotswolds and hoiliday's were there in the early 70's.
Shame about the Pier.
Also my x boss runs the Soveriegn Centre

There is Motag at Weston-Super-Mare, so why did you go to Bristol to do your CBT?

Varedaro, I thought you would go for that, great bike :D

Couldn't get in any time soon with motag at weston - so decided to pop to Bristol - not far really...

Andy at the training centre was really good. I went from complete novice to L plate rider in a day!
