Just came across this forum and have found it useful already.
I am in my early 40s and finally got round to motorcycling after many years thinking about it. Being a cycle commuter, and an experienced driver I thought motorcycling would be quite straightforward. Nevertheless I had an underlying trepidation as I took my CBT in May.
After struggling through my CBT, I had several lessons on a 125, intending to go the direct access route but I never really felt confident that I could handle a bigger bike so I recently decided to get my own 125 and gain more experience - I hope to take my test later this summer.
Initially I felt disappointed that I wasn't picking it up quickly but everyone is different - I just need more time to practice and gain experience.
I am currently enjoying riding a Yamaha YBR125 and feeling more confident each time I go out. I reckon I'll take my test on this bike and ride restricted for a couple of years, as I think this is the best option for me.
