I’m one of Robs ex-pupils that he probably prefers not to talk about as I failed my MOD2 3 times before passing!!! However, this was in no way a reflection on him or his outstanding training skills, purely the fact that I was ok on the bike until being watched by someone else which turned me into a spineless muppet.
Getting a bike was pure mid-life crisis territory, brought on by an alcohol induced promise to follow and photograph a British Army charity bicycle ride from London to Venice – doing it on a motorbike seemed like a good idea at the time! Passed last April after going through the training at the Congleton site, was on the road over the Alps just 3 weeks later and have continued to have a whale of a time since then. Bought a BMW R850R Apr ’11 and in the past 18m have put on about 16,000 miles taking in solo tours around France, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Not a speed freak, just love being out and about on the road.
Hello Paul, its good to hear from you and thanks for registering.
Listen we got there in the end, we didnt give up on each other that’s the important thing.. And boy oh boy your making up for lost time eh?
I have been following your tours, very envious Paul, perhaps share some on here?
See you about fella
Cheers for the welcome Rob and Cameron – may stick a post or two together about favourite roads / routes Rob over the next week or so, may encourage a ‘best roads to ride’ thread….. always good to get new ideas of where to go.
